What to Expect at Your First Transform Visit

Patients reviewing their care plan with Dr. Peter Billing in a Transform clinic

In short: your first visit at Transform is a conversation first and a checklist second. You’ll talk through your history and goals with a physician-led team, have any testing your service line calls for, and leave with your options explained in plain language and a clear next step. Plan on about an hour.

Walking into a new doctor’s office can feel like a lot, especially if past appointments left you feeling rushed, judged, or brushed off. Here’s what happens when you come to Transform, step by step, so there are no surprises.

Before Your First Appointment: How to Prepare

Booking is simple. Call, text, fill out the form, or use live chat, whatever is easiest for you. No referral is needed, though we’re glad to accept one.

Paperwork happens ahead of time. You’ll get your intake forms through our secure patient portal, so you’re not filling out a clipboard in the waiting room.

What to bring:

  • A photo ID and your insurance card
  • A list of the medications and supplements you take, with doses
  • Any recent lab work, imaging, or records related to why you’re coming in
  • Your questions. Write them down. No question is too small.

When You Arrive

Arrive about 15 minutes early. Most first visits take about an hour. You’re welcome to bring a family member or friend; a second set of ears helps, and you won’t be the first person to bring one.

What Happens at Your First Appointment

We start by listening. We learn about your health. We understand your goals. We discuss your options. Then we build a plan around you.

In practice, that means we ask about your health history, what you’ve already tried, what’s getting in your way, and what you want your life to look like. Not the number you want to weigh. The things you want to be able to do. Most people are surprised how much of the visit is them talking.

If you’ve been told your symptoms are normal, or that you just need to try harder, you won’t hear that here.

What Testing Happens at a First Visit

For weight loss, your plan is built on biometric testing, so we understand what’s actually driving your weight and health instead of guessing. Not all of it happens on day one, but some can if you’d like to get started right away.

For women’s health, GI, and cosmetic concerns, your physician may recommend an exam, imaging, or lab work to get a clear picture.

Meeting Your Physician

Transform is physician-led, which means a physician is part of your care from the start:

  • Weight loss and GI health: Dr. Peter Billing, Mayo Clinic-trained
  • Women’s health: Dr. Richard Rosenfield, Stanford-trained
  • Cosmetic procedures: Dr. Eric Harris Mayo Clinic-trained

What You Leave Your First Visit With

  • A clearer picture of what’s going on
  • Your options, explained in plain language, including ones that don’t involve surgery
  • A recommended plan and clear next steps
  • An honest look at cost, coverage, and financing

What you won’t walk out with: pressure. You decide what happens next. It starts with understanding you.

After Your First Visit

Your care team stays with you. Depending on your plan, that may include follow-up visits, nutritional coaching, progress tracking in our app, and messages through the patient portal.
